alexander can sign, "i want that one!"
she was a huge moral boaster.
she relieved us of all our stress,
lack of sleep and
helped me complete some unfinished projects.
to thank her we passed on the wonderfully draining throw-up flu that the rest of the State of Virginia has shared.
sorry mom.
we saw the best and worst of each other as every one of us spent 2 days hanging over the beautiful porcelain throne. yuck!
after battling the flu the snow began to fall.
it kept
snowing
and
snowing
and
snowing
until school was cancelled and we were all together again,
in the house,
canceling yet another days trip to visit the city.
(snow photo from the past)

it's a good thing my mom didn't have any expectations on this trip. i am so grateful to her for coming.
i just love my mom so much!
once we sadly said goodbye, life how i remembered it, came flooding back.
- early the next morning (the sun was not up yet) a child jumped into my bed giving me a nice bony knee to the stomach. i ignored my slight loss of breath and cuddled him into me. at that point i realized he didn't have pj bottoms or underpants on. what on earth?
- there were 2 wet beds that morning.
- i used at least 7 wipes on each of the 4 messy diapers i changed that day. let me introduce you to the wet wipe rule: the more wipes used= worse the diaper is. i can usually get away with 1 or 2, not this day.
- one car broke down on the way home from work. tow truck needed. i have always despised tow trucks.
"dear mr. tow truck driver, i know if i ever swore in college it was at you because you towed my car too many times from the king henry parking lot. despite all of the crazy dreams i had of buying a tow truck and towing you outside of town only to leave you in a chained up parking lot charging you a fee as big as your food budget for the month; could you please come help me? i will gladly pay you this time. i will not cry or swear under my breath. please help."
- i sent out a piece of mail without the address (see below). it was kindly returned 2 days later. there should have been a note on it that read, "and you expected us to deliver this?"
despite the craziness we encounter we are still having a good time.
there are many more good times ahead.
(read on 2 posts in one night).

I had a great time with all of you. You have such cute kids and are a wonderful family, and so willing to share everything. I appreciated it all except for maybe the flu. Thanks for letting me come.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, please get rid of the Spam comment. If not, maybe I should start thinking of gittin' a trailer, making some 'possum stew, and makin' some moonshine in the backyard.
i hate tow trucks too. hope the car is healing and your tummies too. that letter you tried to mail, well, that is pretty awesome you left out an address. that is living proof of the craziness. hope it settles down soon.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love when Grandmas help out
ReplyDeleteI love how real-life this post is. Sometimes things just don't go the way you pictured. It was hilarious to be reminded of some college memories in the part about tow trucks.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about all the progress your Alexander is making. That is so exciting!
I think I laughed out loud three different times while reading this post. Love the "wipe rule", and the naked son snuggling in bed with you. I sent out 3 Christmas card identical to your red envelope. Life is crazy.
ReplyDeleteHaving moms visit is the best. And I love your blog banner at the top of your blog. That picture is so cute!! Your wipe rule is the same is mine. Love reading your blog. Just know that you are not alone in the craziness. :)
