i like to create

creation
to produce through imaginative skill.

i'm always looking for something
sensational, seasonal and
just simple and effective
to create whether or not it turns out perfectly, i just like to try.
paper, computer, food, clothes, jewelry, or fabric.

i like to create.

there are plenty of people more gifted in many areas like my artistic husband
who can draw anything!
i have always wanted to have that talent, lucky i married that gift.
or my sister-in-law, alicia, who can always WOW me.

as i wait for my husband to
finish his work project on the computer next to me

i worked on another creation of my own.
here it is:

this photo of the grandkids was worked on 5 years ago.

at the time it was difficult to find programs that would manipulate well.
to create this i manually (with the mouse) took
davis's and jackson's faces off
and set a new face on from another photo.

my oldest son is the 2nd one in.

some of my favorite hired jobs have been
making woman skinny in their christmas card.
they have all turned out well, sent out to hundreds with no one realizing
there was any manipulation to the photo.
(this has not been done for anyone in my family, they are perfect).

here are the grandkids 5 years later.
how quickly the count multiplied.
my 2 are in the middle.

i was able to use one of the dramatic painting for the
background of this postcard. i could still work on this one to make it flow better,
but at the time i had less then 24 hours to complete it.

i didn't particularly like our family photos
for this christmas card
because i was chubby being 9 months prego with Alexander,
but i sure had a great time designing the accordion fold card.

jewelry designs and business with my sister-in-law, jodi.
she is so talented!

i love collages
especially the ones other people are making in the 9x9 grids.

i really just threw these together over a few days.

what an enjoyable challenge this was.
my hope is they will last since i didn't review sewing instructions before making them.

in the kitchen

yummy homemade pizza.

i make a whole wheat garlic/basil dough then

spread bbq sauce and pizza sauce together to make it oh so tasty!
(the sauce is my sister-in-law, tami's secret).

i am also known to throw together some delicious
pumpkin pecan swirl bread
served with cream cheese frosting.
(it's my very own recipe, but i am willing to share it)
dallin's teachers LOVE it when he brings it in for them.

this is the creation
i am currently working on.

it is a learn to listen book for alexander.

it needs to be laminated and bound.

click here to find out what learn to listen vocabulary is and printable cards for yourself.

my hope is dallin and zachary will read it to alexander in the car, and at home.

what have you been creating lately?

  3. This is a really fun post! It reminds me of Elder Uchdorf's council to create--it is what a woman does and should do. I would love the Pumpkin Pecan swirl bread recipe! emeems@hotmail.com

  4. I am not creative at all, I just copy people! Even that is a failure most of the time. Good job on all of your projects.....I want those recipes!

  5. I did not get the "creative" gene. Last time I tried to get creative with a meal, I ended up throwing it all away and taking my family to Cold Stone Creamery. Yep, it was that bad.

  7. Okay YOU. ARE. AMAZING. I had no idea you did all of that stuff. Some of those things are secret desires of my own( like the jewelry design). And anytime you want to make me skinnier in a picture you are more than welcome. LOL

  11. Monica,

Who said besides you that you can’t paint? I believe everyone of God’s children have innate talents in all fields. I have even begun singing in Church meetings after a lifetime of lip-sounding. My Great Grandfather, Henry Clegg, and his two wives went around the Mormon settlements singing and performing. He presented a lecture on phrenology, a respected profession in those days. So, I too can sing at least with the congregation.

But, back to painting. I had always wanted to paint landscapes but knew I couldn’t draw a straight line. My good wife tricked me into taking an art class to keep me occupied in our retirement years. Lo and behold, we have produced some presentable compositions. Anybody can do it. With your talents it will be a breeze.

By-the-way, you are a clever writer and graphic artist.

    Love, Grandad Clegg
