2 weeks ago i was attacked. an evil cold sore swelled up on my lip. it was followed by a break out in the t-zone. was this a joke? or was i reliving those horrible hormonal high school days?
i blame the break out on trying on sunglasses at the department store. as for the cold sore, i haven't got a clue. stress? fatigue? weather? whatever the reason, i have a new found respect for those that get them.
at that point i looked forward to the next day, hoping it would be the day i could talk to people without them veering away from my eyes and starring at my lip. ahhh! make it go away. well, the next day came and went, then another day and another. it seemed like forever!
life got better. it always does.
alicia, jordan, grandma and grandpa bishopp came for a visit which made the rainy day blues go away. the boys were so excited to play. play. play.
it got even better when my deforestation plan went into full effect. we took trees out from the yard and replanted new ones.
before
we also planted colorful annuals and perennials to liven up the front yard. with the rainstorms we have had over the past few days, the flowers are taking off, doubling in size and dancing towards the sun.
i am a believer in miracle grow. it works!
zachary must have had some without me knowing because he too has grown. he turned 4-years-old.
his special day began with french crepes, sprinkled with snow from the mountains of france. zachary pronounces them as crops with a french accent. so cute. made by chief jean (french for jon).
indulge yourself.
his french accent made the boys giggle all morning.
this is the face i wake up to everyday.
the cake is a masterpiece.
other highlights on his birthday included your phone calls, birthday cards in the mail, a case of V8 from the neighbor (who was trying to get rid of it) and a lego off-road firetruck from aunt alicia.
life couldn't be better for him.
since when did legos qualify as toys to snuggle with at night?
can you find the lego truck blended with the lego pillowcase?
my little bmx man is so proud to be on 2 wheels instead of 4, he makes sure everyone knows.
originally when convincing him that biking has so many more possibilities without training wheels i showed him how to go off curbs. he loved it and wanted to do it and then succeeded.
here he is smiling as he enjoys his birthday juice on his bike.
here he is pre-curb disaster.
have you ever seen a 4-year-old get racked?
i may have taught him how to get OFF the curb, but regret not mentioning that you go up ramps, and down curbs. today he went full speed into a curb thinking he could climb up and over it like a monster truck.
never before have i seen so much impact and force go straight into a piece of concrete. he nailed it.
once he landed on the sidewalk i picked him up and asked where he was hurt. the wind was knocked out of him so with a whisper he said slowly, "everywhere".
life got better.
life got better.
he hopped back on his bike later this evening with a bit of caution around the curbs.

Happy Birthday, Zachary! Wish we lived closer.

Luke and I are laughing so hard about the curb. Poor kid! I'm glad he liked the fire truck. Jordan tried to convince me he should put it together for Z so that's why it was rushed into the mail not wrapped. Hope your birthday is FABULOUS!!! And I'm hoping Chef Jean makes an appearance next time we're in town.
