It was Jon’s parents who sent us on an adventure for Christmas. The 23rd and 24th were spent overnight in DC in a perfect location, only a block from the White House. There couldn’t have been a better way to spend our Christmas break together, since sadly, there were no visitors to look forward to sharing it with.
A few words describe our time together:
Peaceful, Delicious and Happy.
Exhibit A: Below, the boys giggling and hugging each other….not a usual sight around our home, maybe even ever.
All smiles.
Staying warm in front of our hotel.
Exhibit B: Snuggling and coloring? Who are these kids?
Exhibit C: Our picky eater, eating as much as me. Unheard of.
Happy mom, happy family.
Before falling asleep we enjoyed the DC skyline from our window encompassing the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the WW2 Memorial.
The morning was filled with workouts in the hotel gym (the kids not us) swimming, breakfast and cartoons. We enjoyed every moment at the hotel, reluctantly checking out at exactly 12:00 noon.
The rest of the day was filled with museums, metro rides and later a reenactment of the nativity with friends.
Thanks for the Christmas adventure! It will always be a cherished memory.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. What a great way to spend the couple of days before Christmas.
